The Vancouver Canucks have officially appointed Manny Malhotra as their 23rd head coach. Malhotra brings a wealth of experience, having previously coached the Abbotsford Canucks, Vancouver's AHL affiliate, to a Calder Cup championship in 2025. His established relationship with new General Manager Ryan Johnson was a key factor in the decision.

Johnson expressed strong confidence in Malhotra, highlighting his abilities as a teacher and leader. "Manny is a great coach who has the right skillset and mentality to help players develop and get better each day," Johnson stated. Malhotra also has prior NHL coaching experience as an assistant with the Toronto Maple Leafs and began his coaching career in Vancouver.

Malhotra's connection to the Canucks extends to his playing days, where he was a member of the team from 2010-2013 and helped them reach the 2011 Stanley Cup Final. He replaces Adam Foote, who was let go after one season, and is expected to lead the team toward a more competitive and hardworking future.
