Microsoft is significantly advancing its enterprise AI strategy with the introduction of new agent platforms and intelligence layers, showcased at its recent Build conference. Central to this initiative is Microsoft IQ, a comprehensive context layer designed to empower AI agents with reliable context, governance, and secure data access across tools like GitHub Copilot and Microsoft Foundry.
The company unveiled Fabric IQ for structured data, Foundry IQ for knowledge retrieval, and Web IQ for agentic web searching, alongside Workday IQ APIs. These developments, coupled with enhancements to the Foundry platform for agent hosting and management, aim to streamline AI integration into business workflows. Microsoft's approach prioritizes model choice, robust observability, and human empowerment, positioning AI agents as tools to augment, rather than replace, human expertise and drive significant productivity gains.
