Authorities in Karnataka's Udupi district have arrested a 48-year-old man for allegedly posting offensive remarks about Home Minister Priyank Kharge on Facebook. The arrest was prompted by a complaint from a local resident who claimed the social media post could incite communal hatred and insult the Home Minister's Dalit community.
The complaint cited remarks made by Sudhir Bangera on a post featuring the Home Minister's statement regarding the RSS. Police have registered charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The accused was produced before a magistrate following his apprehension.
