Florida is continuing its vital effort to control the invasive Burmese python population with the annual Florida Python Challenge. From July 10-19, the public is invited to participate in safely capturing and humanely dispatching these destructive snakes, which pose a significant threat to the Everglades ecosystem.
Participants will register and submit captured pythons at designated stations for measurement and scoring. Prizes will be awarded for the most pythons caught and the longest snake removed. This initiative, supported by Everglades National Park, aims to raise public awareness and foster community stewardship in combating invasive species.
