Tesla is reportedly considering the integration of its high-performance Plaid powertrain into the Model 3. Vice President of Vehicle Engineering, Lars Moravy, revealed that he frequently contemplates this possibility, suggesting it could fill a performance gap, especially following the discontinuation of the Model S and X Plaid variants.
Moravy highlighted that the Model 3 Plaid would likely adopt the advanced carbon-sleeved motors used in its predecessors. However, he cautioned that packaging these components within the Model 3's existing architecture presents a significant engineering challenge, describing it as a "tight squeeze." While no concrete plans are in place, this exploration signals Tesla's ongoing commitment to pushing performance boundaries across its electric vehicle lineup.
