Crypto millionaire William Duplessie was released on a $250,000 bond, reportedly heading to Florida, after being accused of kidnapping and torturing Italian investor Michael Valentino Teofrasto Carturan. The alleged assault occurred over two weeks in a SoHo townhouse, with prosecutors citing co-defendant John Woeltz in the plot.
Duplessie, who co-founded Pangea Digital Asset Group, was released into house arrest after his mother secured the bond. Woeltz, also accused in the case, is likewise under house arrest. The victim reportedly escaped after two weeks and alerted authorities, leading to the arrest of both Duplessie and Woeltz. The case involves serious allegations of violence and financial disputes within the cryptocurrency sector.
