Samsung is finally bringing satellite connectivity to its smartphones, starting with the Galaxy S26 series. This feature, previously pioneered by Apple and Google, will allow users to send emergency messages and potentially data even when outside cellular coverage. The Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra will support this in major markets like the US, Europe, and Japan.
The rollout is facilitated through partnerships with various carriers, including T-Mobile, Verizon, Virgin Media O2, and KDDI. Notably, Samsung is also extending satellite capabilities to several older Galaxy models, broadening accessibility. This move signifies Samsung's commitment to enhancing user safety and connectivity through next-generation communication technologies, making essential communication more reliable in remote areas.
