Global Airports' Carbon Footprint Revealed: European Hubs Among Top Polluters

Table of Contents

A comprehensive study by ODI Global and Transport & Environment (T&E) has identified the world's most polluting airports, with Dubai International Airport topping the list, followed by London Heathrow and Los Angeles International Airport. These hubs collectively emit more CO2 than the city of Paris.

The research, analyzing data from 1,300 airports, indicates that European airports collectively produce more emissions than those in Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa combined. This finding casts doubt on the aviation industry's ability to meet net-zero targets, prompting calls for stricter regulations and demand management strategies to curb the sector's environmental impact.
