The College of the Rockies has secured $1 million to establish the ReHub Circular Technology Centre, a pioneering facility in partnership with the Kootenay Outdoor Recreation Education Enterprise Society. This center, located at the Gold Creek campus, is designed to be British Columbia's first rural clean-manufacturing and repair hub focused on circular innovation, workforce training, and small-batch production.
The ReHub Centre aims to strengthen local manufacturing, create skilled jobs, and promote sustainable economic diversification in the Kootenays. It will feature advanced repair and prototyping technologies, offering hands-on learning in areas like industrial sewing and technical gear repair, while also providing regional companies with crucial local production and testing capacity. This initiative is part of British Columbia's 'Look West' strategy, reinforcing the province's commitment to a resilient and sustainable economy.
