Colorado law enforcement officials have raised alarms regarding Department of Homeland Security (DHS) recruitment materials for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). A bulletin from the Colorado Information Analysis Center (CIAC) warned that certain social media posts contained themes perceived as white supremacist, potentially inciting violence against immigrants or encouraging extremists to infiltrate ICE. The CIAC expressed concerns that such messaging could create a dangerous environment, leading to vigilantism and bias-motivated acts.
The CIAC specifically pointed to the use of language and imagery that mirrored those found in right-wing extremist subcultures, including lyrics from songs popular among white nationalists and the adoption of memes like "Moon Man." These elements, the bulletin argued, could be interpreted by violent extremists as an endorsement or even an invitation to join federal agencies. The warning from the Colorado fusion center signifies a notable concern within state law enforcement regarding the messaging employed by federal agencies.
