The Government of Maharashtra has appointed Mangesh Joshi, an IAS officer, as the new Director of the Directorate of Tourism. Joshi, previously Deputy Director General at YASHADA, assumed charge on April 21, 2026, bringing extensive experience in administrative reforms and strategic planning.
Joshi outlined a vision to enhance Maharashtra's global tourism profile, emphasizing effective policy implementation and promoting the state's diverse attractions, including forts, coastline, eco-tourism, and cultural heritage. A key focus will be on sustainable tourism initiatives to generate local employment and accelerate state development, positioning Maharashtra as a unique and safe destination worldwide.
